Dark Night: Africa

World developing fast and all continent are racing toward great success but Africa continent lagging behind. Why ? Reasons are many.. some controllable some not but who is responsible. Our human history begin from Africa but it is still a History. Snail speed development hit Africa. There are many thing to discuss but Energy poverty is major problem in near future. Energy Poverty (word given by Robert A. Freling , director of SELF.org)

What is Energy Poverty?

Energy poverty exacts its toll on the health, education, food and livelihoods of the world’s poorest people.

  • Health Clinics go without lighting and medical equipment and without refrigeration for vaccines and anti-venom serum for yellow fever, polio, tetanus, whooping cough, and hepatitis A and B to keep alive and potent.
  • Schools go without dependable lighting to gain greater knowledge and well being.
  • Community knowledge: connectivity by radio and telephone is power-constrained.
  • Agricultural production is hindered by lack of irrigation systems and precious day-light hours are lost to traditional fuel-gathering making economic progress nearly impossible.
  • Lighting homes with kerosene lamps, which give dim and wavering light, emit cancer-causing smoke, and cause thousands of devastating house fires every year. In contrast, light produced by solar power is clean, steady, bright, and safe
  • Surface Water is dangerously contaminated with disease-carrying waste and agricultural runoff.
  • Micro-Enterprise is severely hampered as nightfall comes at about 6:30 p.m. year-round, effectively ending the productive work day.
  • Urban Migration: The explosive growth of cities in developing nations is straining the natural environment and overwhelming social service systems.
  • Global Warming: Families rely on kerosene for lighting and add 600 pounds of heat trapping carbon dioxide to the atmosphere every year. Villages that rely on diesel generators add many tons more.
While searching on Google i found that 650 million people in sub-Saharan Africa would be without electricity by 2030.
this is only one problem that i put forward but to bring Africa in race many more thing s has to be done. IF you look Africa from space you can easly see the twinkling light all over the continent but over the africa you hardly see any light see the above picture: (Dekha kya)

Affluenza:

Affluenza is a term used by critics of consumerism, a portmanteau of affluence and influenza. Sources define this term as follows:

affluenza, n. a painful, contagious, socially transmitted condition of overload, debt, anxiety and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more. (de Graaf [1])
affluenza, n. 1. The bloated, sluggish and unfulfilled feeling that results from efforts to keep up with the Joneses. 2. An epidemic of stress, overwork, waste and indebtedness caused by the pursuit of the American Dream. 3. An unsustainable addiction to economic growth. (PBS [1]) ( from Wikipedia)
You may heard this word for the first time but some where this word keeps you thinking for while that where we(World) are going what we want to achieve by destroying or beautiful world called EARTH. Where we will go after that. Thomas Friedman describe in his new book (HOT,FLAT, and CROWDED) about two small cities of world DOHA and DALINA both just in millions but there energy consumption is like big developed city, here people like to eat popcorn at bed time in night this is just example of two example of two small city but there are many more cities who are copying life style of America...............

Artificial Intelligence: Will robots one day rule the world?

Way back in 1965 Moore`s (founder of Intel) was observed the number of transistors that can be inexpensively placed on an integrated circuit is increasing exponentially, doubling approximately every two years. AI researcher predicted in 1950 that computer would be world chess champions by 1968. As both words was predicted way back in 50`s when global technology had started walking. But, every thing which was predicted is true now; not true but exeeding the expectation. Now AI researcher predicting that Robot will rule this world and they working on it. Honda already made robot with artificial intelligence which can feel like human. I am surprised what would be the face of future by 2050? one can see the future of AI in bollywood movies LOVE STORY 2050 and spielberg`s movie AI. Many questions comes in my mind with rapid changes in technology, one is

"WHO WOULD REALLY RULE THE EARTH"

Light a candle ignite a mind

06/07/2008,Sunday: 8:30 am morning, Teach India was the headline of Time of India.

Teach India is a nation-building initiative (or social initiative) from the Times of India that brings together children in need of education and people who can contribute a little time towards teaching them. It is based on one simple principle: If you have the desire to teach, we will put you in touch with underprivileged children who are willing to learn. With over sixty of India’s committed NGOs, corporates, schools and social organizations already supporting our cause, we now look for selfless individuals to come forward and help change the future of a child forever, by giving just a few hours a week to Teach India: below is some data related to Indian education system which is largest education system in the world

1.2 million school.

6.3 million teacher

290 million student

which is itself is more than the population of every country in the world except China,India,U.S

we still have over 287 million illiterate people..
